Hessle High School 3 TBEC First X1 1

Early Departure for TBEC First X1
On a cold and bitter afternoon TBEC First X1 battled hard in their efforts to continue their progress in this competition.
In spite of falling behind in the opening minute to a gift of a goal from a lapse in defensive concentration, TBEC fought hard throughout the first half to get back on level terms. However, the pure physical presence of a strong Hessle defence kept the team at bay.
After the turn around the game continued in a similar manner with TBEC bombarding the Hessle defence and their centre halves meeting the challenge head on. Things might have been so different had an excellent strike from Scott Hamilton, whose curling shot had the keeper well beaten, gone in rather than hitting the upright and going out for a goal kick.
Motivated by this near miss Hessle quickly rallied their troops and within five minutes were 3-0 up.
In an effort to get back on track - and following some tactical changes - Scott Drury (who was once again man of the match) inspired his team to make a final concerted effort on the opposition’s goal. This brought about a well headed goal by Mark Moughton from an excellent Drury corner. But it was not enough and in spite of further waves of TBEC pressure, Hessle held out.
This is a young TBEC team made up mainly of Year 11 and 12 players. It bodes well for the future as we look to build a team to make even greater progress in next year’s competition.
Goal scores to date.
