Diversity is the Key for Tollbar Mature Student

December 19th, 2005

Tollbar 6th Form studentSimon Hunt (38) is proof that it is never too late for a return to studying.

Unlike most students, who go on A Level course directly after their GCSE results, Simon chose to leave secondary school and go out to work.

However, some years down the line, he decided he needed to pick up some academic qualifications and is now studying Law and German at Tollbar.

Simon is benefiting from the continuing partnership of the North East Lincolnshire Sixth Form College - essentially Grimsby Institute for Further and Higher Education - and Tollbar Business and Enterprise College

Under the partnership, although Tollbar caters exclusively for 16 to 19 year old students, students of all ages who are enrolled at Grimsby Institute can study relevant courses at Tollbar.

GIFHE’s students can cross between sites, free of charge, to study a wide range of subjects from both institutions.Simon has taken advantage of this flexibility and so far has accumulated excellent passes in his AS courses and is working towards his A2 examinations.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything has gone, support and guidance has been first class,” he commented. “I would recommend this pathway of study to any one at any age.”

As well as past students from Norway, China, Hong Kong and currently Germany and Japan, Tollbar sixth form welcomes the expansion and diversity offered by every member of our student group.
