International Baccalaureate Diploma
February 9th, 2006
Dear Parent/Carer
We are writing to make you aware of very exciting developments about to take place at the College in respect of post 16 education. We feel it is essential that you receive this information first hand, as it will no doubt be reported in the local media.
Managers, governors and staff constantly review and assess the quality of education at the College and the Grimsby Institute to ensure we maintain the high standards recognised by Ofsted in its recent reports.Over recent months we have focussed our attention on Sixth Form provision and investigated all possible curriculum structures on offer.
After lengthy consideration, we are delighted to inform you that it has been decided that the North East Lincs Sixth Form College Partnership will be applying to offer its students the opportunity of studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma from 2008.This new course will provide our students with new and exciting opportunities to enhance their post-16 education. The current GCSE programme at KS4 provides an excellent introduction to the IBD, as it did for A Level.
We have prepared a very brief fact sheet which is enclosed with this letter.More detailed information will be provided over the course of time as our application progresses, which will take the form of presentations to students and information meetings for parents.
Yours sincerely
Mr D J Hampson Mr D Khan Mr
P Bond Principal Principal, GIFHE Chair of Governors
