Year 7 Football

September – December 2007

Year seven football is looking strong at the moment with an unblemished start to the season.

With over 30 players regularly training on Mondays the level of commitment is commendable and in turn the battle for places in the team is always fierce.

So far the 11 a ‘side Tollbar BEC team has reached the Fourth round of the English Schools Football Competition defeating some tough sides on the way.

Hatfield School, Doncaster, were the first opponents. It was rumoured before the match that they had some Doncaster academy players. These players had little affect on our boys who beat their side 14 – 0.

Skegness Grammar School were a good passing side and played very well against our boys but we still managed to put 5 past them (5 – 0).

Campsmount Technology School was the last fixture in which the boys were matched for ability for the first time in competitive matches. Tollbar BEC were still victorious however with three goals from Roche to take the boys into the fourth round (3 -1).

In the 5 a ‘side competition the Tollbar BEC team are again unbeaten with 2 wins and a 1 draw.

The side were also involved in a district competition at Havelock School in which they won and will soon represent Grimsby in an area competition.

Well done boys!!!

P.S … remember there is still training every Monday after school and some B team fixtures will be on the way after Christmas.
