Tollbar Under 16’s County Champions David Lister / Wolferton
January 29th, 2008
In what were two excellent performances within the County Cup, the Year 11 boy’s football team were crowned County Champions. In both games the players that took part were a credit to the college and themselves. With the first of both games against Wolferton finishing at a 2-2 draw, the boys had to win if they were to claim their dream double title. The team not only stepped up to the challenge, they also shattered the opposition finishing the game with a fantastic 6-0 victory.
On the day of the final game against David Lister School, both teams were aware of the task ahead. However it was Tollbar BEC that started and finished the game with greater strength and conviction. From the outset Tollbar BEC dominated the park with some excellent hard work from midfield and attack, defensively both teams stood tall, although as the game progressed it was clear to see that Tollbar had full control going on to win 6-0.
Year 11 students involved in both games were:
- Joel Creasey (Scored 1)
- Luke Tarbutt
- Ben Leggett
- Josh Fuller
- Callum Green (Scored 1)
- Sam Brooks
- Mark Gray (Captain)
- Tommy Wright
- Shaun Maughton (Scored 2)
- Jack Shearer
- Jamie Petronzio
- Christian Carlton
- Danny Waugh
- Bret Silvester
- Tom Pell (Scored 2 and man of the match)
Congratulations to all players that took part and good luck for the nationals.
