Jumps for joy were abound in New Waltham as students celebrated phenomenal successes.
A-level students at Tollbar Business and Enterprise College were in high spirits after 70 per cent of pupils scored the top three A to C grades.
All 63 A-level students passed their exams in the A to E range, with 89 per cent of maths students scoring A to C grades, 82 per cent of English students and 86 per cent of economics students also scoring the top three grades.
Principal David Hampson and director of sixth form Diana Shelton said the results were even better that expected and have resulted in one student being accepted into Cambridge, having also received the highest possible grades in the university’s own entrance exams.
David Morris (18) from Scartho, is now preparing to read maths at King’s College, which lists Salman Rushdie and John Maynard Keynes among its alumni.
David gained A grades in maths and further maths and B grades in physics and philosophy.
He said: “I’m the first person from Tollbar BEC to do maths at Cambridge and last year there were two other students who went on to Cambridge from here.
“Obviously, I’m really looking forward to it!”
Diana Shelton added: “We are also particularly proud of Eleanor Holmes, from Binbrook, who is our highest scoring student, with four grade A passes and one grade B.”
