Tollbar’s 2007 Inter House Music Festival attracted slightly less entrants than last year’s record-breaking event, but all classes were very keenly contested.
Some very fine string playing from violins and acoustic guitars was accompanied, as always, by some entertaining vocal items.
Top of the points was Joel Grainger of Orion House who won two sections – brass and percussion, while his brother Ben was runner-up in the brass class.
Charlie Fox also picked up points for Lyra with a third in Piano/Keyboard and the same position in Ensemble.
When all the scores were counted, it was Lyra who came out on top – the first time this house has won the competition.
Ms Boothroyd would like to thank all the judges who gave up their time on each of the three nights and also the instrumental/vocal teachers who prepared the students so well.
Finally, well done to the students who stood up in front of their peers and performed so well as representatives of their houses.
