Budding Authors

March 3rd, 2008
Press Cutting from Life – Thursday 28 February 2008.

Budding authors from Tollbar Business and Enterprise College are celebrating becoming published authors.

More than 150 pupils at the New Waltham centre have had short stories published in the annual Young Writers’ Anthology, following their success in a national writing competition.

Students from throughout the country entered short stories into the annual Young Writers Competition – and the lucky prize winners in each region have had their work put into print.

Molly Mann (11) from Holton le Clay was one of the youngest pupils to get her work printed.

She said, “I used to have problems with English and wasn’t very good at it.  I’ve improved a lot now and it’s great that my work is being printed”.

Thirteen-year old Poppy Wall, from Grimsby, enjoys writing so much that she hopes to become a journalist.

She said, “I wrote a short story about a girl turning to chocolate after her boyfriend dumps her.  I thought it was funny so hopefully it was!”

English teacher Nicole Gabbitas said, “We are very proud of all the pupils who have had their work published.  Their stories were excellent, and they deserve to be rewarded”.
