Inter House English Competition

The Inter-House English competition involved each student in Year 7 producing a written piece entitled ‘My First Day at Tollbar’. Pupils considered how they were feeling before the big day; any hopes or worries. They then had to write about their experiences of the first day, from arriving at the College, through first lessons and lunch, to going home at the end of what probably seemed like a very long day!

English class teachers read every response and chose a winner from each house; these were then ranked in order from first to sixth, and points awarded accordingly.

All teachers were very impressed with the work produced by their students, and it was nice to read so many positive stories and to find that most pupils actually enjoyed the transition from primary to secondary!
