Inter-House Netball 2008

This year’s Inter-House Netball tournament was dominated by Cygnus and Perseus. They were the only two teams to field full squads and the work put in by the team captains really showed. Well done to Sammy and Stacey Needham (Perseus captains) and Jade Auckland (Cygnus Captain).

The year 7 tournament was dominated by Perseus, who won all of their games and only conceded 3 goals. Lyra were a close second and only lost to Perseus. The year 8/9 tournament was won by Cygnus who never lost a game due to a combination of excellent shooting (scoring 18 goals) and a solid defence (conceding only 5 goals). Lyra were the only team to come close to beating them, by taking them to a draw. Orion came second with 2 wins, losing only to Cygnus.

The year 10/11 tournament once again saw the best turn out of students. This was a really closely contested battle with the best players in the College playing against each other. Perseus and Cygnus came out on top, and required goals scored to separate the two, with Perseus scoring 17 compared to Cygnus’s 9, so Perseus took the year 10/11 title.

The results overall (all years included) were equal between Cygnus and Perseus, therefore the games played against each other had to be considered.  Three goals separated the teams in favour of Cygnus, who were duly crowned Inter House Netball Champions!

A big well done to all who competed, and a special thank you and well done to those year 11 students who organised teams and umpired tournaments.
