Using Your Planner

To use your planner effectively you must complete the relevant sections;

College/Home Communications

Use this to record any letters sent home from College to your parent/guardian to show that you have taken them home.

Timetable and Homework Timetable

You must copy your timetable and homework timetable into the relevant pages of your planner so that you know which lesson you have and what homework you should be given. It is safer to copy these in as when they are stuck in they often come loose and are then lost.

Attendance

Each day mark the attendance section of your planner. If you have been away for any reason mark these as absences and keep an eye on the amount of absence you have. Employers do not look favourably on poor attendance. We have many students who have 100% attendance and all students should strive to be as near to this as possible. If you are often off College you could be referred to the Education Welfare Officer and students who have low attendance for no justifiable reason are prosecuted.

Calendar/Diary

Plan your overall deadlines and activities in the Calendar section and use the Daily and Weekly planner to record homework or coursework details. It is useful to add reminders a week and two weeks before your deadlines to give you advanced warning that you will need to have completed your work.

If a teacher writes a comment in your planner you must show your parent/guardian and if there is a message written in your planner from home, show this to the relevant teacher.
