Before They Were Famous ? \ Concert \ Summary \
‘Before They Were Famous’…and all that jazz!
The concert went ahead as planned on Friday 29th April at 12 o’clock within the sports hall of the college. With much organisation, patience and excellent team work from ‘This n That’ and members of staff at Tollbar BEC, the concert went ahead with no problems. With the exception of trying to persuade almost 450 students to take their shoes off before entering the hall! This is due to the sports hall having a new Olympic standard floor in place, and we didn’t want to ruin this grand facility.
When the doors opened at 12 pm the students flooded in with their shoes in hand! 50 pence was paid by each student on entry and there much laughter at the sight of teachers, students and reporters walking around in socks!
The MC’s Tom Scott, Emily Pearson and Natalie Clark introduced the ‘Before They Were Famous’ concert and spoke of the idea behind it. Up first was Miss Littlefair singing ‘It Doesn’t Matter Anymore’, followed by Mrs Maxson who performed ‘Hit the Road Jack’ on an electric violin, which brought much enjoyment to the crowd. The next song performed was by the amazing Natalie Clark of Tollbar BEC who sang ‘Don’t Know Why’ and stunned the audience with her excellent performance. Emily Pearson then sang the beautiful ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ which showed swaying arms among the crowd. Amy Greetham of Tollbar sixth form sang ‘Over the Rainbow’ originally sung by Eva Cassidy, a song that truly touched the crowd. Last but not least an amazing performance by Tom Scott of ‘Ain’t that a Kick in the Head’ which had the crowd stunned by his singing, dancing and entertaining performance that had the crowd begging for more…
The concert was a huge success with amazing performances by the talented students and teachers of Tollbar BEC emphasising the immense quality of the ‘Up the Tempo’ CD, which is now available for you to purchase.
