Humanities

The Humanities Curriculum Area comprises Geography, History, Religious Education. The subjects are taught separately but all the administration is carried out across the area. We have common curriculum policies on marking, assessment, Key Stage 3 strategies, ICT, rewards and discipline.

All students take the three Humanities subjects at Key Stage 3. At Key Stage 3 there is one period of each subject per week. At Key Stage Four Geography and History are offered as options. They also have one period of RE at Key Stage 4 with full GCSEs available in the subject.

In the Sixth Form Geography, History, Law and Philosophy and Ethics are popular A Level subjects. Schemes of work are provided in each subject area but we are constantly amending them and sharing new ideas.

The atmosphere in the Curriculum Area is supportive and encourages innovation. We have very committed and skilled teachers. The Curriculum Area received a favourable OFSTED report. The provision was deemed good in all three subjects
