ENGLISH LANGUAGE
What is the course about?
This course gives students the opportunity to improve their own use of English in different contexts through producing their own texts and by studying those of others.
What will I learn?
Students will learn
- To analyse texts linguistically
- To write for a range of purposes
- To evaluate their own linguistic choices
- To explain and comment on issues related to language.
When does the course start?
The course starts in September of each year.
How do I attend?
Normal daytime attendance.Where applicable this subject may also be taken as a part time evening programme.

Edexcel
How long does the course last?
The AS and A2 courses are each one year programmes, but you have to do AS before you start A2.
What does this course lead on to?
You may progress to A2 level.AS + A2 levels are recognised qualifications for a wide range of courses in Higher Education.
What subject entry requirements are there?
Ideally, students should have a GCSE English grade 'C' or above.
Are there any other requirements?
There are no set texts to buy, but you may find it helpful to get a good dictionary and a book about grammar. A list of suitable books can be supplied.
How is the course assessed?
There are two exams and one project in each year of the course.

Mature students will be advised as to the exam fees when enrolling prior to the start of the course.
