Curriculum

Our curriculum at Tollbar BEC reflects the College aim for all our students to get the best possible start to life, whatever their ability, talents or preferred learning style.

We believe that our business & enterprise and humanities specialisms flow through all our learning and that our students leave with a well developed ability to make the most of opportunities through their own self- reliance. The strong international dimension to the curriculum is demonstrated through many courses, culminating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD) offered to all who stay on to our rapidly expanding 6th Form. Learners are able to track a wide range of subjects through from the lower school, and the IBD allows them to maintain this breadth of study. There is always a very strong emphasis on the core skills of English, mathematics, science and Information and Communication Technology as well as excellent facilities for performing arts, sport and technology. The broad curriculum leads to qualifications which are sought and valued by universities all over the World. We have a dedicated team of teachers who develop the personal, social and citizenship elements of the curriculum, and there is frequent access to additional support and mentoring for any student in any subject.

We believe this inclusive approach and breadth of challenging learning does indeed equip our young people for a successful life in the global network of the 21st century.
