Student Curriculum

Tollbar BEC students enjoy an innovative, broad and balanced curriculum that prepares them for adult life. Our curriculum is designed to be flexible to allow for personalised learning.

Key Stage 3

All students complete the Key Stage 3 curriculum in two years - Years 7 and 8 Key Stage 3 subjects offered are:

Maths, English, Science, Information Technology, French, Spanish, Geography, History, Music, Religious Education, Art, Technology, Textiles, Key skills, Citizenship and Physical Education. Extra Literacy and Numeracy (Key skills) is taught to bands 3, 2 and 1.

Key Stage 4

Key Stage 4 will last for three years - Years 9,10 and 11

Core subjects are Mathematics, English, Science, Information Technology, Citizenship, Religious Education and Physical Education. In bands 1 - 4 Business BTEC is also core. Optional subjects are Art, Technology, French, Spanish, History, Geography, Technology Resistant Materials, Textiles, GCSE Physical Education, and Performing Arts - Music.

Mathematics, Science and Business Studies offer BTEC. Information Technology offers DIDA.

Additional Key Skills qualifications are offered to nominated students to supplement GCSE courses.
