As a central subject within the Specialist School Development Plan, the Business and Enterprise Curriculum Area is at the heart of the delivery of this important strand of the Colleges progress. Furthermore, the Curriculum Area prides itself on being in the vanguard of further innovations and development.

Continual curriculum innovations have included:

  • Implementing the BTEC First Certificate in Business in 2008.
  • Launching a new modular GCSE in Business Studies for first certification in 2011.
  • Launching a new GCSE course in Economics, again for first certification in 2011.

Other activities include:

  • A business-focussed Enterprise Day for all Year 8 and 9 students during the summer term.
  • Participation in Pro-Share competition where students invest in stocks and shares with the opportunity of winning actual prizes.
  • Participation in the national Challenge the Chancellor competition where students have the opportunity to devise, for example, a new tax strategy.
  • Extensive co-operation with primary schools on various business and enterprise related projects.
