Tollbar Drama Club

Tollbar Drama Club is held once a week and was set up with the principal aim of offering more than just learning! It was decided that pupils enjoyed drama but sometimes didn't get the opportunity in class to develop their interests fully and that a club would allow them more independent learning time.

News Day:

Tollbar takes part in the BBC's annual 'News Day', a national event for 11 - 14 year olds. Students are able to work independently as local journalists in a professional manner, collating and producing news reports on local events and working to a deadline. Students' reports are broadcast nationally on the BBC website.

The English Curriculum Area has a varied programme of Theatre visits. In Year 11 many students take part in 'Poetry Live!' to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the poems studied at GCSE level.

Students are encouraged to participate in various Creative Writing and Poetry competitions such as the 'Write On!' and 'Young Writers' creative challenge.
