Resources and Facilities

There are currently seven language classrooms in the Curriculum Area, two of which are language laboratories, equipped with twenty eight computers and specialist language learning software (Sanako). This sort of technology enables the students to work on their speech and pronunciation as well as interacting on a one-on-one basis with the teacher and other students. Of the remaining five classrooms, four are equipped with Interactive White Boards. The whiteboards allow the teacher to produce highly motivating and interactive lessons which the pupils thoroughly enjoy. In addition to all this, we provide the students with the latest edition textbooks and exercise books.

In order to ensure that all the students have equal access to language laboratories and Interactive Whiteboard rooms, we have devised a two-week rota whereby classes rotate rooms each week.

There are two native Spanish speakers on the Curriculum Area staff who also contribute to the extra-curricular activities and the conversation sessions with students.

In the Sixth Form, we have two language laboratories with language learning software as well as two specialist language rooms. Every Sixth Form student has a thirty-minute conversation class each week in small groups, often with native speakers. In addition, every student studying a language at higher level has an individual thirty-minute conversation session.
