Courses and Qualifications

Key Stage 3

All students follow the national curriculum in music.

Key Stage 4

Students can take a double award GCSE in Performing Arts (AQA exam board). Unit 1 - The Portfolio and Unit 2. - A showcase performance are assessed in the March of year 9. Units 3 and 4 are then assessed in the March of year 10.

This course is very popular as it enables students to use their talents in music, dance and drama. It has also been very successful in the two years it has been running. 86% of our year 10 students achieved A* - C compared with the national year 11 figure of 56%.

In year 11 students can choose to take the Edexcel GCSE in Music, as a one year course or take the Young Peoples Arts Award Silver level.

Key Stage 5

Students can study Music at higher level as part of the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate

Instrumental / Vocal Examinations

Students that are taking singing or instrumental lessons are encouraged to work towards grade exams with ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall or London College.
