Sweet Success

September 23rd, 2009

On Tuesday the 15th of September, a bake sale was held by some of the Year 13 students at Tollbar, hoping to raise money for the Swedish exchange students coming over. These delicious cakes were homemade, ranging from 40p for a cupcake up to 70p for a slice of cake, or £1 for one of the three special edition cakes they had made. A whopping £125.50 was raised from the event, which was a huge success for just a couple of hours selling!

Laura Latus, one of the students hosting the sale, commented, "We hoped to raise enough to make sure we were able to pay for a few bits for when the Swedish students came here. I think we expected to raise around £60 to £80, if that! We're extremely pleased with the results. That means we can contribute to their transport, and also means that they won't have to pay for anything much when they come here."

Needless to say they felt that the event was an enormous accomplishment, having earned almost twice as much money as they originally hoped for. We hope to see what exactly has been bought with the money raised when the Swedish exchange students come over next month.

Jake Brown,
Year 12.
