Tollbar Students Hit The Right Note In Music Exams

Music students have been hitting the high notes with a large number of successes at exam level.

The students, in Years 7 to 10 at Tollbar Business and Enterprise College, have passed exams in a wide range of instruments, including flute, clarinet, violin, piano, saxophone, trumpet and voice.

Year 10 student Abigail Pocklington (14) has done so well she has already achieved 55 UCAS points for when she applies to university, having passed her Grade 7 in Music Theatre, achieving a distinction. She has only one further grade to achieve before moving on to a diploma level.

Students who passed their Music Theatre exams with the London College of Music were: Sarah Barber - Grade 1 (Distinction); Abigail Fletcher - Grade 1 (Distinction); Mollie Whitehouse - Grade 1 (Distinction); Lucy Baldock - Grade 2 (Distinction); Georgiarna Fitzgerald - Grade 2 (Distinction); Katie Barber - Grade 3 (Merit); Bethan Wright - Grade 4 (Merit); and Abigail Pocklington - Grade 7 (Distinction).

Twenty one students also took part in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams playing a number of instruments: Ellie Blissett - Violin Grade 2; Lawrence Cottingham - Clarinet Grade 4; William Cottingham - Alto Saxophone Grade 3; Ella Goldsmith - Clarinet Grade 1; Sophie Goldsmith - Flute Grade 1; Paige Grant Lloyd - Violin Grade 4; Benjamin Herrick - Trumpet Grade 3; Emma Horsley - Violin Grade 2; Charlotte Lee - Violin Grade 2; Lewis Lofts - Alto Saxophone Grade 3; Lauren Martin - Violin Grade 4; Molly Mills - Clarinet Grade 2; Annabel Parry - Flute Grade 2; Lois Perry - Flute Grade 3; Hester Pomfret - Violin Grade 3; Kathryn Queen - Piano Grade 3; Jordan Shinn - Tenor Saxophone Grade 3; Jack Skinner - Alto Saxophone Grade 3.

Several students also passed their Grade 5 theory exams. They were: Michael Burns, John Carr-Murrell, Charlotte Proctor, Bryony Webb, Benjamin Grainger, Kathryn Queen.
