Athletes at Tollbar Business and Enterprise College have made a clean sweep at the Grimsby and District Athletics Championships this summer – winning all 13 trophies.
The team of 68 students, representing Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, won the overall trophy by more than 100 points, bringing back a haul of silverware so large that the college will have to invest in a new cabinet to display it all.
There were exceptional performances from Year 10 student Laura Wall, 15, who was unbeaten in all four of her events, while team captains Fushia Clayton, 15, and Patrick Atkin, 15, led the team by winning three and four events respectively.
Patrick achieved two personal bests in the javelin and the long jump, and will take part in the English Schools event later this year in Stoke, where he will represent Humberside in the Octathalon.
Fushia has also achieved county honours this year in the 800m.
Team captain Patrick Atkin, 15, said: "The district championships gave us some tough competition from other schools, but we have trained hard and we were all determined to do well."
"It was a great experience to be captain of a team that brought home so many trophies and I am so proud to be part of that."
Not in recent history has the college done so well at the Grimsby and District Athletics competition, despite year-on-year successes, and PE teacher Amy Monkhouse said the individual achievements were equally impressive.
She said: "The students were remarkable on the day. They really took to the challenge and every single member of the team did outstandingly well. We are so very proud of them."
