At this school, those who can teach... teach teachers!
Tollbar Business and Enterprise College launched their teacher training courses this week, inviting teachers, support staff, members of the local authority and those wanting to take their first step into the profession.
The school has been endorsed by Edge Hill University - which means they will now be able to provide a wide range of teacher training qualifications for new and old hands to the job.
A wide range of courses will be available, from foundation degrees for non-teaching staff, or masters degrees for those who are established in the classroom.
Principal David Hampson explained that the school became eligible for teacher training status after being given the go-ahead by the Specialist Schools And Academies' Trust.
He said: "We didn't want to apply for another specialism, but instead wanted to become a teacher training centre.
"Only one school is eligible to become one in each local authority, so to gain such status is something we are really pleased about."
He added that the status would benefit the whole area, and not only boost qualifications of teachers across North East Lincolnshire, but attract and hopefully retain new teachers from around the country.
As reported, Derek Kennard, former head of School Standards And Effectiveness for North East Lincolnshire Council, moved to the college in January to take up the role of director of teaching and learning.
He said: "This is not just about writing essays, but about those in training getting experience.
"On some occasions, there will be a chance for schools to 'twin' with one another.
"A teacher doing training in one school will swap to another for a period of time as part of their course."
He also said there was no limit to how many people they could take on.
