Eight adult learners have gained a total of 18 certificates in Literacy and Numeracy through the Adult Learning programme at Tollbar BEC.
Part of Lifelong Learning, which enables students to work at their own pace, the courses started in May last year. Places are limited to 12 and courses are open to the community and to CSA staff.
"By learning at their own pace, students can achieve exam success then move on to higher levels," explained John Teanby, who is Tollbar's Adult Learning organiser. "The majority of those attending are parents who often come to help their own careers and to be able to help their families with homework."
Many of the students who have benefited from Adult Learning at Tollbar say it has boosted their confidence, with a number commenting that it has enabled them to help with maths homework.
One said: "Mr Teanby is very patient with us all, I have learned so much, it has helped me with my job and I have really enjoyed it."
