Last Ever A-Level Results At Tollbar BEC Are Excellent

August 20th, 2009

Tollbar Business and Enterprise College is once again celebrating the success of its A-Level students with some outstanding individual and subject achievements.

The college's results show a substantial increase in the average point score per student, up nearly 40 points to 854, which is equivalent to more than 3 'B' grade passes per student.

The overall pass rate has increased to 99% and the average point score per entry is also up to 205. Pass rates at A-B and A-C are in line with last year's results.

Students studying Maths and Further Maths achieved excellent results with pass rates at A-B of 70% and 100% respectively. Two other top performing subjects were Chemistry and Economics with pass rates at A-B of 70% and 83%.

One student attained 4 'A's and a 'B' closely followed by another student with 4 'A's and a 'C'. A significant number of students achieved 3 'A' grade passes.

This is the last year that Tollbar students will post A-level results as the college has now replaced all A-level courses with the International Baccalaureate.

Tollbar Principal David Hampson, OBE, said:
"The College is very pleased with this year's A-Level results and it bodes well for the future of our Sixth Form. Interestingly this is the last time we will be reporting results at this time of year as our IB students will receive their results in July next year."

Diana Shelton, Director of Sixth Form, added:
"We are hopeful that with these excellent results our students will achieve their first place Universities and we wish them well in their future academic careers."
