About Us
The ‘Young Enterprise’ is a UK registered charity that runs a range of business and enterprise education programmes. ‘The Young Enterprise programme range offers students the opportunity to run a real company.’ ‘Young Enterprise UK is made up of 12 regional organisations.’ Each year students from areas within the UK create their own company, making products, providing a service, generating revenue and helping the community. All of these companies have the opportunity to attend competitions to which all parts of the company are judged according to the Young Enterprise UK’s judging criteria.

The Tollbar BEC sixth form students (Siobahn Drury, Amy Portess, Olivia Forster, Zabrina Short, Andrew Hopgood, Joseph Rigby, Niall Robinson and Joseph Martin) set up their own company; ‘This n That’ back in October 2005 and have been operating ever since. They have specialised in event management and organised two concerts within the college grounds, one which raised a staggering £662.18 for ‘Children in Need’ charity, the other helping to market the college’s ‘Up the Tempo’ CD containing tracks jam packed with the college’s talented music performers. Other projects that the Young Enterprise company ‘This n That’ have undertaken is the selling of CGP revision guides within the college to GCSE and A Level students. This has proved to be a huge success and is an on going project for ‘This n That’. All projects completed have tied in with the company’s main aim: to help the community.
