End of Year Letter

Dear Parent/Carer

Student Uniform

We would like to thank all parents for their assistance in ensuring that our students are extremely well presented in their uniform. We have had numerous positive comments from the business and local community regarding the high standards of our students' dress. This stands them in very good stead when they move on to employment or further education. There has also been a very positive response to the introduction of the new uniform for Upper School.

We would, however, like to point out a few issues where a minority of students are letting the others down.

Shirts: We expect students wearing a tie to have the top button of their shirt fastened. A few students are deliberately removing their top buttons. From September, if a student is seen without a top button, we will replace the button using a buttoner machine.

Trousers/Skirts: Girls' trousers with large buckles/studs on an integral belt are not acceptable for College wear. Very short skirts, skirts with splits up the side or rah-rah skirts are also not acceptable for College. Skirts should be no more than 5cm above the knee.

Shoes: All students must wear black shoes. Sports shoes in the style of trainers are not acceptable even if they are black. Canvas shoes, open toe sandals or boots are also not acceptable.

Uniform Sales

The College is now open every Tuesday from 3:15 pm to 4 pm for the purchase of College uniform during term time and during holidays. Blazers, ties and scarves can also be purchased from Uniform Direct.

Labelling of Uniform

Would parents ensure that all items of clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with your son's/daughter's name. This helps students find lost items and significantly reduces unclaimed clothing in lost property.

College Year 2008-2009

The first day back for students is Thursday 28 August 2008. Please find enclosed term-dates for 2008-2009.

NB: All term dates can be viewed on the College website.

A fully detailed College Calendar with all College events will follow in September.

Mobile Phones

I wish to remind students that mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed.

Procedure for taking medication at College

If a student has to take medication whilst at College, parents must complete a consent form and the medication should be left in the medical room. Students must then go to the medical room to receive their medication. Students must not carry medication around the College.

End of Current Term

Following the letter sent to parents in May 2008, I would like to further remind parents that there is an additional Inset day on Friday 18 July 2008. Therefore the students finish for the summer break on Thursday 17 July 2008 at the end of the College day.

Please sign your child's planner on the College/Home Communications, page 47, to indicate that you have received this letter.

Yours sincerely

Mr D J Hampson

Principal and Chief Executive
