Dear Parent/Guardian of (student's name)

Re Banding arrangements for Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11) and the KS4 Curriculum Evening on Tuesday 28th April

As you are aware (student's name) will be starting Key Stage 4 at the beginning of Year 9 in September 2009.

Following a recent banding meeting involving the Senior Management Team and all the Curriculum Leaders, the students have now been organised into Bands in preparation for the new academic year. From Tuesday 1st September 2009, (student's name) will be in Band 5.

We are providing you with the information now so that you are in a position to make an appropriate curriculum choice with (student's name). A Key Stage 4 Subject Information Booklet including curriculum choice forms, a Quantitative Assessment Report for (student's name) and a location map is enclosed with this letter in preparation for the Curriculum Evening on Tuesday 28th April 2009.

As per my previous letter I am writing to invite you and (student's name) to the KS4 Curriculum Evening which will take place for Bands 6 and 5 at 7:30 pm, initially in the Conference Hall, where I will address you on the structure of the curriculum on offer for (student's name) in Year 9 and then give you the opportunity to ask me questions of a general nature.

After this initial session, I have made both subject and pastoral staff available for you to consult with on specific issues. Curriculum staff, representing the core and option subjects, will be in the Sixth Form Annex to give advice regarding (student's name) subject choices. Senior Pastoral Staff will be available, to give general advice and guidance to you and (student's name) regarding the likely impact of subject choices on future academic progress and/or employment prospects.

A wide range of refreshments are available to be purchased in our new commercial operation, 'Café Express' (see map location).

I look forward to meeting you on 28th April 2009.

Please sign (student's name) planner on the College/Home communications page (page 46) to indicate that you have received this letter.

Yours sincerely

Mr D J Hampson Principal
