Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Year 11 Coursework

Coursework is a very important aspect of most GCSE courses and overall success at GCSE is significantly improved by meeting the requirements of the coursework element. Unfortunately, nearly every GCSE subject has a coursework component and most students find this workload difficult to manage.

We are keen to alleviate this pressure and propose to support our students by offering additional coursework days prior to Christmas.

The College breaks for Christmas on Monday 21 December. However, we will open on Tuesday 22 December for our Year 11 students to offer coursework support with specialist staff and resources for the day.

We would encourage and expect students to attend as this will provide a unique opportunity for support that cannot be repeated.

There will be 2 sessions. Session 1 will run from 9.30 am - 12.00 pm and Session 2 will be from 12.45 pm - 3.15 pm. Students can attend Session 1 and Session 2 for the same subject or could divide their time between two areas.

Students may choose one or two subjects if appropriate. There may also be an opportunity to offer additional subjects. Please write down any individual requirements in the comment box.

Please complete the reply slip on the next page to indicate your son/daughter's exact requirements and return this to his/her House Tutor by Tuesday 15 December even if in the unlikely event you do not wish to take advantage of this extra support.

The Café Express will be open for students during the lunch break.
