Whole School Letter December 2009

18 December 2009

Dear Parent/Carer

Change of Staff Training (INSET) Day 2010

The INSET Day scheduled for Monday 20 December 2010 has been moved to Friday 15 October 2010. This means that Monday 20 December 2010 is now a normal College day for students. I enclose a revised version of the College Year Pattern 2010-2011.

Uniform

Please can I remind parents that canvas shoes are not suitable for College for either boys or girls.

Girls in the Upper School who wear the College scarf must wear a blouse and not a traditional shirt. If they choose to wear a traditional shirt, they must wear the Upper School tie.

Safety at the front of the College

We are very concerned that a number of parents are doing U-turns in their cars at the entrance to the College, which has resulted in some students being injured. Please will parents not pull into the entrance or exit to the College to drop off students.

The Police are also concerned regarding parents parking at the end of the day on Louth Road as this is causing severe congestion and has also resulted in accidents. Parents should arrange to collect students away from the immediate College area.

Of course, an even better solution would be for these students to either cycle or walk to and from the College each day.

Year 7 Banding and Setting

As advised at the Year 7 Assessment Evening, the review of Banding and Setting for Year 7 has taken place. Your child will be notified of any timetable changes and parents of students moving Bands will be notified in writing.

End of Term

The current term ends on Monday 21 December, which is a non-uniform day. The Spring Term begins on Monday 4 January 2010.
