Year 7 Parents' Evening 16th and 17th March 2010

Our ref: SEM/AKW

22 February 2010

Dear Parent/Carer

YEAR 7 PARENTS' EVENING
TUESDAY 16 AND WEDNESDAY 17 MARCH 2010

We sincerely hope that you take this opportunity to meet staff to discuss your son's/daughter's progress.

There will be two evenings, which will be arranged in the following way:

Tuesday 16 March for Information Technology, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Textiles and Modern Languages and Special Educational Needs.

Wednesday 17 March for Art and Design, Citizenship, English, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education and Religious Education.

Your son/daughter will be given a double-sided sheet on which to record appointments. He/she should take the sheet to the teacher concerned in order for the teacher to record the time when he/she is able to meet you, on the appropriate night.

There are several points which we would like to bring to your attention:-

IT IS YOUR SON'S/DAUGHTER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE APPROPRIATE APPOINTMENTS. We ask you please to check his/her sheet regularly until you are satisfied that appointments have been made: if you meet with difficulties in making appointments through your son/daughter, please do not hesitate to contact the College for assistance. PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY REASON FOR YOUR SON'S/DAUGHTER'S FAILURE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, WITHOUT SEEKING ADVICE.

To assist staff and in case of an emergency, it is important that we have a record of everybody who is on the premises at any given time. We request that every parent sign their name next to that of their son or daughter on the alphabetical printed list located between the halls. Please follow this procedure at the time of arrival and again on your departure.

Please limit the time taken with each teacher to no more than five minutes. If you need longer with a particular teacher, please make an appointment to see that teacher at another time.

Staff will be seated alphabetically, by surname, and there will be senior staff on duty to assist you if necessary.

If your son/daughter is on the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Register and you would like to discuss your child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) please ask your son/daughter to make an appointment with Miss Ciechanowski for the Tuesday evening.

We do not require you to bring your son or daughter with you, however they may accompany you if you wish.

We look forward to meeting you at the Parents' Evening and trust that you will enjoy meeting the teachers who have taught your child this year. Please do not hesitate to ask for help either before, during or after the meeting; we are keen to make the evening a success.

Please remember that there is additional parking space to the rear of the College, accessible via the entrance furthest from Louth Road.

Please sign your son/daughter's planner on the College/Home Communications, Page 46, to indicate that you have received this letter.

Yours faithfully

Mr S Moon
Vice Principal
