Swimming
TBEC is very proud of its swimming achievements at district level. The Grimsby and District Schools Swimming Association holds an annual gala in December each year. The Championships are organised on a team basis, with separate trophies for boys' and girls' teams in each year (except years 10 and 11 which have a combined team). In addition to this, there are overall girls' and overall boys’ trophies. The two remaining trophies on offer are ‘The Grimsby Telegraph Shield’ for all years, boys and girls combined, and lastly, The Truman Trophy which is an overall percentage competition that takes into account the number of students in each competing school. In spite of the team emphasis of district championships, the gala consists of both individual and relay swimming races.
TBEC teams are selected from time trials held at a local swimming pool prior to the gala.
Our swimming teams have won the district overall trophy for many years. In addition to this, our teams are always dominant, winning nine, ten or eleven of the twelve trophies available.
In addition to the District Gala, TBEC also enters teams in The ESSA National Championships For Secondary Schools. We have also recorded some very creditable results on our recent travels at this level too.
