The Art and Design Department is housed in the practical block, which was the original school built in 1937. The whole building was remodelled to accommodate the practical department of Art and Design as well as Technology. There are five art rooms and all have been recently refurbished and are equipped for specialist teaching. There is a kiln room attached to one of the art rooms.
We have three well-equipped Photography darkrooms in the Lower School and have 2 brand new darkroom studio facilities in the Sixth Form area, with a dedicated computer suite adjoining. There is also a newly extended Sixth Form Art Studio, offering light and space for a range of Art activities. All students have access to PCs, which are networked and have internet access. Two interactive whiteboards (for staff use only), black and white and colour printers, digital cameras and A4 flat bed scanners complete the ever-expanding ICT capabilities.
The Department has a dedicated team of six specialist teachers and excellent links with our Primary Feeders and with The Grimsby
