Contribution to Moving Towards the College Vision
The Humanities Curriculum Area is looking forward to the challenges created by the new Humanities specialism status of the school. The Curriculum Area is determined to set challenging targets to develop the Curriculum Area and raise standards. The Curriculum Area will continue to be creative in developing new and more effective ways for students to learn, particularly by the creative use of ICT. The Curriculum Area will both improve upon current business links within the local community and develop further links where possible.
All subjects within the faculty have strong elements of Business and
Enterprise within their curriculum. In all Schemes of Work topics where Business and Economic understanding occur have been highlighted and during the course of this year these will be further developed. The Curriculum Area is keen to work with the Business and Enterprise Curriculum Area to help deliver parts of the Business and
Enterprise curriculum where overlaps occur particularly in Geography.
Curriculum Area staff will help ensure students have a clear understanding of what Business, Enterprise and Humanities college education means by supporting the ethos of the College and how Humanities subjects will fully support and enhance this initiative. It is vital for students to have a broad understanding of Business and
Enterprise in terms of the diversity of business employment, the relationship between business and global issues, ethical dimensions of business and the importance of problem solving. The Humanities Curriculum Area can help deliver in all of these key areas of student understanding.
