Extra Curricular Activities

The History department has a regular group of Year 7 and 8 students who meet once a week as the ‘Time Wizards,’ or History Club. The students have been involved in a number of projects Humanitieswhich has included producing a display entitled a History of the Tollbar Teachers. This involved students interviewing teachers and delving deep into the archives for a baby picture of the staff! The students have also helped on Open Evening dressing up in historical costumes such as a medieval knight. They have also produced projects on individual topics such as dinosaurs and Victorian fashion. The Time Wizards have also produced a display on Anne Frank to coincide with Holocaust Memorial Day.

Humanities

In March, 100 Year 11 students went to Doncaster for a theatre production entitled, ‘Hitler onTrial.’ The students watch a dramatic performance and then have to vote on whether they feel Hitler was solely responsible for the outbreak of the Second World War. The trip also involves an exam-busting workshop, where a team of GCSE examiners go through exam questions offering tips and advice in the run up to the summer exams.
