At Key Stage 3 assessment is based on Quality Marks, which are conducted once a term and marked according to National Curriculum Levels and College Policy. These assessments are marked out of 20 and students are informed of the National Curriculum Levels at which they are working, as well as what they have to do to improve. Marks are recorded in student planners, together with a strategy for improvement and on the College’s database. Homework and classwork is regularly marked and teacher’s comments suggest ways of avoiding common errors.
At Key Stage 4 students again have Quality Marks tests three times a year,. Which test performance against GCSE criteria. Extensive use is made of past exam papers and GCSE style questions. Students are made aware of what they need to do to move towards their target grade.
At Key Stage 5 students are awarded a half-termly grade based on exam style questions and the content of their class and homework.
All students sit an annual examination.
