Aims and Objectives

In the Music Curriculum Area we will:
  • Endeavour to foster students’ sensitivity to, and their understanding and enjoyment of all aspects of music, including world music.
  • Aim to provide students with skill, knowledge and confidence in each area and develop their enjoyment of Music through an active practical involvement in the creative elements of composition and performance.
  • Continue to view music as an essential element in a balanced education, allowing personal expression, personal development, creativity and real practical involvement in the subject. Students gain confidence, skills and an appreciation of each others talents.
  • Continue to foster links with partner educational institutions, through musical activities.
  • Enable students to experience live musical performances and to work with professional musicians in workshops and performances, in a variety of genres.
  • Provide instrumental and vocal tuition with highly qualified music tutors, employed by TBEC.
  • Encourage students to take ownership of their own creations and performances and be involved in a business and enterprising environment.
  • Work within the ethos of ‘Every Child Matters’ and provide musical experiences and nurture musical development of all students.
