The Citizenship Curriculum Area has an important contribution to make to the Business and Enterprise status of the College. A number of the targets and strategies to support the Business and Enterprise status of the College have input from the Citizenship area. Work continues to progress well with the Connexions service in providing work experience opportunities as well as Careers advice and guidance.
The Faculty is active in providing follow up work for the Business Studies Curriculum Area following the Year 10 work experience programme. This is part of our commitment to the Work Related Learning framework and Enterprise Education of all students. Work Experience will give the students, from 2008, 2 weeks invaluable insight into the working world and a chance to put their Enterprising skills into practice. The English Curriculum Area also make use of work experience by using this for a piece of assessed written work for the GCSE course.
The Curriculum Leader has taken part in 4 days experience in Local Government organised with the Humber EBLO and continues to work with this organisation in the delivery of Work Related Learning.
Both at Key Stage 3 and 4 students are given the opportunity as part of the curriculum to make use of all aspects of ICT.
From September 2007 Year 10 and 11students studying towards the Preparation in Working Life examination. The Year 9 students will be working towards a BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Employability. Both of these qualifications are business orientated as they prepare students for life outside of education and cover many aspects of Work Related Learning and Enterprise
