The KS3 course is fully mapped out from entry in Y7 until the end of the key stage in Y8, and allows students to gain experience in all of the key areas during the course of a year, and provides full coverage of the National Curriculum Attainment Targets.
At KS3 all students have 3 x 50-minute periods of Technology per week, and are given at least 1 Technology homework of approximately 30 minutes per week. Of the 3 periods, 2 are timetabled in Resistant Material based workshops; the other in a Textile based room. Students typically complete 5 or 6 units/projects per year. However, these are not fixed to set time intervals so that students experience variety, from short focussed tasks to longer, more involved and open ended projects. As students progress through the key stage they get opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of the processes they may need for KS4.

Many of the projects are supported with introductory packs, exemplar materials from staff or students, and ICT (audio/visual) resources specifically created to aid delivery by the staff and completion by the students.
