PERFORMING ARTS
What is the course about?
It is a course which allows you to plan and give performances in a realistic working environment. You will gain experience in two disciplines, from Dance, Drama and Music.
You will gather knowledge of how your specialism works within the performing arts industry, including career possibilities.
This is very much a practical course which includes some research for a portfolio. The course will be delivered through workshops, visits to theatres and concert halls and lectures.
What will I learn?
- You will develop skills in your chosen disciplines.
- You will work in a team, learning to plan for an event
- You will work to a commission and give performances in the community.
- You will learn to be critical of your own and others performances
- You will understand the role of the performer within the context of the overall event.
- You will gain knowledge of the various aspects of performing arts and explore career possibilities.
When does the course start?
The course starts in September of each year.

Normal daytime attendance.

EDEXCEL
How long does the course last?
The course is taught as a one year programme (AS) and you may progress on to the second year (A2) to gain the full A level qualification.
Are there any entry requirments?
Four GCSE’s at grade C or above. Prior experience in Music, Dance or Drama would be beneficial but is not obligatory.

How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through practical performance and coursework portfolio.
There is no written examination.

Are there any exam fees?
Mature students will be advised as to the exam fees when enrolling prior to the start of the course.
