What is the course about?

In depth study of Physical Education/Sport

in both academic and practical contexts.

It covers all the important areas in Sports Science and Sports Studies.

It involves both academic and practical aspects of Sports Science/Studies.

What will I learn?

  • Physiological / Psychological aspects of the subject
  • Contemporary Socio-Cultural Historical context
  • Biomecha nical and Practical developments
  • AS - Physiological/Psychological factors in performance Socio-Cultural/Historical factors in performance Analysis/evaluation of factors in performance
  • A2 - Physiological/Biomecha nical/ Psychological factors in optimising performance factors affecting elite performance Analysis/evaluation of factors in performance

When does the course start?

The course starts in September of each year.

How do I attend?

Normal daytime attendance.

Where applicable this subject may also be taken as a part time evening programme.

AQA

How long does the course last?

The course is taught as a one year programme.

What does this course lead on to?

You may progress to A2 level.

AS and A2 levels are recognised qualifications for a wide range of courses in Higher Education.

What subject entry requirements are there?

Students must have a minimum GCSE pass at grade B

Are there any other requirements?

It is also beneficial to be a regular participant in sport.

How is the course assessed?

AS Exams in June. A2 Exams in June.
